TWO 19-year-old women and an 80-year-old man have died after a head-on crash when the pensioner apparently drove the wrong way up a dual carriageway.oil painting
An 18-year-old woman who was in the same car as the teenagers was seriously injured.
The accident happened on the A78 northbound carriage-way, close to the Meadowhead Roundabout near Troon, Ayrshire.
Police said it appeared that the man, who was driving a Skoda Octavia along Gailles Road towards the roundabout, had entered the northbound carriageway.

The pensioner, believed to be from the Paisley area, was taken to Crosshouse Hospital, where he died.
Two 19-year-old women in the Fiesta also died.
The other teenager was taken to Crosshouse Hospital, where her condition was described as serious but stable.
All three women are thought to be from the Greenock area.
A police spokeswoman said: "The identities of the victims are not being released until we have contacted

Officers at the road policing unit at Ayr are appealing to any drivers who may have witnessed the coach handbags crash, which happened about 10.50pm yesterday, to call them.
Meanwhile, investigations are continuing after another serious road crash, also on the A78 near Troon.
It happened around 5pm on Monday when the 57-year-old rider of a Honda motorbike was involved in a collision with a Mazda car that was stationary in a queue of traffic.
It happened between the Monktonhill and Monkton roundabouts and the force of the impact wedged the motorcyclist underneath the car.
The biker was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital, where he was said to be in a "serious, but stable" condition.
The car driver was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for a check-up and later allowed home.
